Prayer And Praise: How to Recognize Life Defining Moments and What to Learn From Them

In Acts 3, the Apostles Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. This was the custom of the Apostles to go into the temple and pray. When a person is heading towards the temple/church, the number one reason or occasion should be for prayer as did Peter and John. Thus, God in His word said, my house shall be called a house of prayer.

“While Peter and John were walking towards the temple, a certain man, lame from his mother’s womb was carried and laid daily at the gate of the temple, which is called Beautiful, to ask alms/money of them that entered into the temple. Nevertheless, who showed up were the authority of the Holy Spirit in the names of Peter and John. When the lame man saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them for alms/money. Peter, fastening his eyes upon the lame man along with John said, look on us. And the man was expecting to receive something of them in the form of money. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk” (Acts 3:1-5)

The choice between getting healed or eating, getting up and walking with your own ability or being bound, and have to wait for someone to take you around. The lame man was in a situation that alms could only provided a temporary fix, however, he needed a permanent fix. When Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have I give it to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. The spoken word of God that said the effectual prayers of a righteous man avail much was in effect through Peter. Instantly Peter took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and anklebones received strength.

A proven fact that prayer does work, “the lame man jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with Peter and John into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. (Acts 3: 8).

Do you still wonder if prayer works? When the man walked into the temple, and all the people saw him walking and praising God, and they knew that, it was the man, which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple, they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him because of prayer. A testimony unto God for the great work he has done. Do you have a testimony?
