Master Yourself: Fulfilling The Will of God Regardless of Opposition

Your body has a control system just like everything else in life. Mastering your body comes with difficult choices. In order or to master yourself, the pursuit of your purpose must be determined and committed. Here are a few pointers to help you along the way.

Understand that you are not God:

Dishonest practice is the preventer of success. Sometimes you just have to own up to the fact that something’s not working. Face the fact that trying to fix the situation has failed. I know your heart is probably prone to helping victims and the less fortunate, and believe me, that’s a good quality. But, sometimes you have to realize that your ability is not good enough. Don’t let your concern for others distract you. Let go and let God. You are not God. This doesn’t mean that this person won’t get better if you don’t intervene. It just means that God is more suitable to handle the situation, so let the one who is in charge take charge.

It is natural that when you see someone in a difficult situation that they’re facing you want to come to their rescue, and in most cases you can. But watch out for the ones who seem to repeatedly have needs and always come to you. They will try to make you feel like you should be there for them, when God is the only one who could be there at all times.

One thing you must understand is that helping someone is different from carrying them. There is a saying that goes like this, “God helps those who help themselves.” What I am trying to say is one of the biggest hindrances to a person’s growth is always helping them and not giving them a chance to help themselves. You may think that you’re being helpful but in reality you’re blocking their learning process. What if this is God busy at work? How are they going to grow? In fact, if you are always there for them, why would they even attempt to do something for themselves? I know helping others makes you feel good, but you are interfering with their growth process. Give them room to grow on their own, and trust me, they will find God if they are really pursuing their purpose.

Accept the negative

When you give your all, be prepared that not everyone will be positive. It does not matter who you are, it’s impossible to please everyone at all times. When the negativity begin to surface, it will stifle your way of thinking. However, don’t worry about how a person thinks or what he says about you. Only worry about what God thinks. If you keep worrying about the unhappy or those that were left behind because they never did fit into your purpose anyway, you will never reach what God has destined for you. Whenever people speak negative of you, it’s okay because it’s all part of the process. Take it with a grain of salt, accept it and move on. Don’t judge, fight fire with fire or be offended. Be grateful and accept the negative. The road to greatness is a lonely road, and he who endures to the end shall be rewarded greatly.

The truth shall set you free

Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets. (Luke 6:26 NIV)

The truth will always be the truth whether some believe it or not. In most cases, a lie is more acceptable than the truth. For example, false prophets were and still are sometimes well-spoken of because they don’t tell the truth. Neglecting to tell it like it is for fear of hurting someone’s feelings or to gain a more selfish ambition is not characteristic of a person pursuing their purpose. There are times when you just have to tell it like it is and accept the results. Know that you are going to be criticized but be confident in doing the right thing. There is no real way to avoid criticism but at least be honest and tell the truth. Being a false prophet and telling people what they want to hear will only get you brownie points on earth but not in heaven. It’s okay to tell the truth. What are you afraid of? People not speaking well of you? Do you not know that speaking the truth can be costly? Sometimes it’s better to be spoken ill of just to expose who is real and who’s not. The real will accept the truth. Don’t be like a false prophet. Don’t be afraid for the truth will always set you free.

Just remember to create a standard of living that will be good for everyone, God being first and everything else will fall into place.

Heavenly Father help us that we may able to fulfill your will and desire for our life regardless of the opposition we may encounter. We pray that you will give us the strength and endurance to endure to the end, in Jesus name we pray, Amen.
